The Buffalo Bruce Podcast.
SPEAKER_00So, do you want to talk about the weather? I turned the heat off today. Andrew, air on.
SPEAKER_02I'm not putting my snowbrush away. I just don't trust it out there.
SPEAKER_00Oh my gosh. I hope to God the summer is not like two beautiful days or three beautiful days, and then like followed by five days of like cold and rain. This has been ridiculous. I know. Because and we're we're past mid-May now. Right. So are we, what are we gonna have? Maybe July and August. Nice. Less than two weeks ago, it was snowing. Yeah. I know. It's crazy. And today, 86. Right. And this is what makes everybody feel super hot, too. Because we you don't have that gradual. You know, like the gradual warm-up where you start your body gets used to it. It's kind of like when it goes from like summer to winter. Right. Warm fall to like freezing snow. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. It's just like here, um, you spent time in the sauna, now jump in this cold pool.
SPEAKER_00Right. Or vice versa.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, vice versa, right? Ridiculous. Buffalo, you kill me. Legit. You kill me. Literally kill. All right. Yeah. Um, if we if we hike for our beer, then what do we do for our wine? Curious question. Walk? Walk for wine, wine for beer. Walk for wine, hike for beer. Okay.
SPEAKER_00That's that's that's fair. All right.
SPEAKER_02I don't know if we can popularize hashtag walkforwine, but I mean, probably not. I don't know. We'll figure it out.
SPEAKER_00Wine for wine.
SPEAKER_02I want wine. It's like your, your, and your.
SPEAKER_00Right, exactly. Yeah. Oh my gosh. All right, what are we drinking, Jay?
SPEAKER_02Well, uh, that looks like a mortalis can there. What's it say? It's probably Hydro luck. Is that a hydro?
SPEAKER_00Hydro luck.
SPEAKER_02Okay.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_02What's that got in it? Well, you rolled that a little rolled that a little hard there. It's okay. That looks good on camera when it shoots everywhere.
SPEAKER_00I guess I don't.
SPEAKER_02Roll it a little much there.
SPEAKER_00Well, you know.
SPEAKER_02It's okay.
SPEAKER_00Sometimes we make a mess down here in the podcast studio. What do you call it? Tire factory.
SPEAKER_02Umfortress podcast studio, laundromat, fitness center, hair care, and tire center. Look at that colour. It's like it's like minty.
SPEAKER_00Wow.
SPEAKER_02I really made quite the math. That's okay. So hydro luck, sour ale brewed with pineapple, orange, apricot, and pistachio ice cream. Coming in at 7% ADV. Fine, folks at more talent.
SPEAKER_00Delicious. I think I rolled it a little too much. It's okay. Got it real fizzy. It's okay. But you know, we got a good max. So we're good. I like it.
SPEAKER_02Well, before we talk about beer, we gotta talk about wine real quick. All right. Because when we last left the Buffalo Brews podcast, we were talking about our conversation with Brittany Gibson, the executive director of the Seneca Lake uh wine trail. Amazing conversation. Led right into a great weekend of wine on Seneca Lake.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_02And beer. Yeah, let's talk about it for a moment. Highlights for you? Wine. Wine. Wine. Yep.
SPEAKER_00I mean, the highlights for me are always to be able to see the familiar faces. Um, I thought it was really cool to experience an event that we had not experienced yet. Right. Right. So we're the only event so far that we have ever done is Christmas, right? So deck the halls. Deck the halls, yeah. So we go out there and everybody's, you know, in Christmas things and everything's very Christmassy and whatever. So it was very interesting to see how a different wine event would be. And I liked it. And we wore cute shirts, even though, you know, I don't know. I like to, what do you call it? Uh, dress to impress. There's a I'm trying to think of your wrestling turn. Oh, have a gimmick. Gimmick. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_02You've pulled some doozy.
SPEAKER_00I was like dressed for I'm like, where is it? Why can't I think of it?
SPEAKER_02You pulled some doozies out. This weekend you used the word, you know, the girl that plays the heel.
SPEAKER_00Pardon me? So weird.
SPEAKER_02You mean the bad guy?
SPEAKER_00We had cute wine and cheese uh t-shirts that we were wearing for the event. So we got a compliment on every single winery we went into. Because, you know, we like to have fun.
SPEAKER_02Um, I feel like that first day we did the interview with Brittany got the compliment on the shirts and then went straight to toast. 10 different stops that day, including the interview and 10 different compliments on those shirts. So, yeah, I mean, yeah, this is something we'll say. I I say embrace the gimmick. Oh, there you go. Embrace the gimmick.
SPEAKER_00I knew you had something.
SPEAKER_02Right. If you're gonna dress up for something, just go all out.
SPEAKER_00Right. Oh, I'm all about it. I love it. Just have fun with it. For sure.
SPEAKER_02You know what? It because what's the difference between that and somebody that comes to your house and you've got an interesting conversation piece on your mantle or your coffee tape? I'm just wearing it right instead.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, just wearing it for sure. Yeah, I don't know. I had a lot of fun. We had a lot of good food, we talked to a lot of good people. Yeah, um, I liked that this event seemed a lot less busy, crowded, even though it was sold out. Yeah. I don't know if it was just the way we chose to do our wineries that we ended up being kind of opposite of the other people doing it. I have no idea. But it was nice. Could be. It was nice. We I felt like we had a lot more time to talk to different people, talk to the people at the wineries, you know, have conversations with even other people who were having wine. Like we ran into the those two women who were going, they were right behind us. So as we came in, they were leaving. As we came in, they were leaving. It was so funny.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, it was a you know, um, cheese themed pairings that they did.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_02A lot of a lot of fun with some things.
SPEAKER_00I mean, uh and they still did all of the uh recipes, which was cool. So if you really loved something, you were able to make it at home, which we actually did. You made the queso recipe.
SPEAKER_02That yeah, the queso from uh Hazlet 1852. Um that was the what was a slow cooker uh beef queso dip, but we did it with turkey with ground turkey, and it was uh it was a lot of fun, it was really good. You know, the Mexican cheese and hamburger dip at Idle Ridge um was good. Uh what else did we have here? I'm looking at the Ruben dip from Lakewood, dill pickle, mac and cheese. Oh, I liked that dill pickle mac and cheese.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, that was good. Let's see here. The whipped goat. That was at leidenfrost or leidenfrost.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, leidenfrost as it was told. Whipped goat cheese and roasted red pepper for toast.
SPEAKER_00That was my absolute hands-down favorite one. Jane comes up with some doozies. Ooh, that was so good. I could have just eaten a vat of that. Like if they had leftovers of that, I'd be eating it every day, dipping my vegetables all week for lunch for sure. Falkerson had us thinking about curacao with that cheesy bread. Mm-hmm.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Uh, and then uh the sloppy Joe dip from either or. So that was fun. It was it was fun to see two new wineries on that trail, Red Newt.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, that was our first time ever in there, and they were doing some good wines. And I thought it was really cool because otherwise I would have never, I would have never even stopped into that winery.
SPEAKER_01Right.
SPEAKER_00You know, if it wasn't for the event telling me like, hey, go to this place.
SPEAKER_02They're not that far out of the way. No, no, just just never been part of an event, so we haven't had a reason to go.
SPEAKER_00Right. I feel like um for us, we go out there and we do the events, or we go out and drink beer and we have our favorites we go to. Right. So I feel like we should probably start to kind of look around and say, what have we not done to try something new every time we go out?
SPEAKER_02And I think that's the agreement we made.
SPEAKER_00And uh this one was a new, brand new, right? Like we had never walked in there, either or we had been in there for a cocktail, first time having the wine. But it was very good. Yeah, they did a good job.
SPEAKER_02I can't wait to see how they they grow and and just all they can do really is just improve their craft at this point. Um, it's a great facility, and um, they've been playing around with their acoustics, they get some live music there from time to time and uh the former Penguin Bay winery, yeah, right across from Lucky Hare. Yeah. Uh yeah, it was you know, a lot of fun. Tried so many great wines. Toast we started off with, they had the new brute, uh the uh was it a brute rose that they did. Um, Mike always doing a fantastic job.
SPEAKER_00Oh, I'm so excited for everything. And then it's so funny because as soon as we leave them, then I see something else on socials, and now I want to drive back. And I'm like, why? Why are you guys two hours away? Like I can't just hop in the car, you know?
SPEAKER_02So yeah, and then they uh they had teased us that they were going to be putting out the uh spicy Rita.
SPEAKER_00Mm-hmm. Happy birthday to me. They just announced that.
SPEAKER_02Mm-hmm. Yeah.
SPEAKER_00So when now I needed to get in the car and drive for two hours. Good thing we're going back in June.
SPEAKER_02Back in, yeah, through two, two weeks, three weeks. Yeah, to go to the barbecue. We'll be back out there shooting more content. Um, yeah, put a reel up on social media, TikTok, Instagram, Facebook if you wanted to check that out. But it's uh just you know, a fun little uh minute-long, you know, jaunt through our our time out there on the lake.
SPEAKER_00We stopped into the Tabora food store for the first time. Yes, got some cookies. What else did we try? Like a cinnamon bun, I think you ate that. Cinnamon bun, you picked up the grape leaves. Oh, the grape leaves. Yeah, I love them so much. Stuffed grape leaves. So good. And then I ate them out of the vineyard.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, that's right.
SPEAKER_00You can see me on your reel.
SPEAKER_02Yep. That's uh that that shot was taken at uh Lakewood. Yeah, yep.
SPEAKER_00Lakewood or Wagner? No, Lakewood, because you can get out of the car in the vineyards right there.
SPEAKER_02Okay, yeah. Um, yeah, so it was just you know, you know, breezy day, but it was nice out there, and we were able to just Oh, is it that was the weirdest trip because one day it was super warm.
SPEAKER_00I'm in a t-shirt in a scorch. Yep. And the next day, I'm bundling, we walk out of the hotel, snowing. I can't even see the lake. We have a lake view from our porch, and that night you couldn't sit on the porch because the rain was coming at you. And then you wake up in the morning, snow everywhere. It was incredibly weird. Like it was like a switch, like on, beautiful, off, cold. Yeah. And then it kept changing too as that day kind of like went in and out. Because remember, we were driving and it was icing at us. Yeah, like it was like hail, like little high. And you could hear it like on the car. And then we'd stop two stops later, back to snow. And then as the day progressed, started to just change into rain again. Crazy. Yeah, weather was crazy.
SPEAKER_02By the time we got up, we finished our we finished our trip at Cane and Vine, which uh for people who don't know, Toast, uh, it's a set uh Jane and Mike, who also own Toast, also own Cane and Vine. But if you go to Cane and Vine, they're completely different wines, they don't rebottle the same wines and right.
SPEAKER_00So you have a whole different experience.
SPEAKER_02Things that you buy at toast, you can't get at Cane and Vine and vice versa. So Jane thought we forgot about her. Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Except for we left her for last so we could spend all of our time with her at the end.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_02Had the had the chicken Alfredo.
SPEAKER_00Oh, yeah, she brought you out a whole plate of it. She was like, Oh, we have so much left. Here you go. You need some more food? Eat up, boy.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, um, uh, yeah, always good. We'll be back out there for the sizzling barbecue event in a few weeks. And then the you know, the the day two, we stayed at Gristiron at the lodge.
SPEAKER_00Oh, yeah, that was a nice experience.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. Um, so for people who uh want to take in that experience, so gristiron brewing, they have an area there called the lodge. It's literally right behind them, 200 yards from the brewery. And uh while you're there, you so when you check in, they pour you a beer when you check in. And then the the rooms are, I mean, nice rooms, really nice rooms.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. I don't even know how many there are.
SPEAKER_02I don't know.
SPEAKER_00But it's a small, kind of more boutique hotel that they built back there. Yeah, yeah. Yeah, it was a it was a really good experience. But a huge room, large bathroom, gigantic deck that you can be out on. So yeah.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, the veranda there like covers the entire length of the building. So like everybody shares the same veranda.
SPEAKER_00Right, and you just look out to the lake. Sadly, we did not have a lake view night before morning.
SPEAKER_02Well then when we finished up at Gristiron, we knew that the rain was coming in because we knew it it rained like crazy here in Buffalo. So we saw the clouds come in. We of course watched the radar, where a lot of people do not. Um, so that's that's on you folks. But yeah, we turn around and uh as you know, okay, we'll just sit on the porch and enjoy the rain. No, the wind's coming in so hard off the lake, you can't even enjoy the porch. Right. I wanted to watch the rain.
SPEAKER_00I thought we could for sure sit out there and watch the rain. I thought so too. But we could not. No, it's okay.
SPEAKER_02Temperature temperatures plummeting again, you know, like we said, snow. But yeah, it was uh so a great experience, and I'm I'm already I'm just jonesing to get out there for more things. And I know the recipes are already out for um for the barbecue event. So we got read in on a couple of them before the list came out, so that was fun. It's a I always appreciate when these plea these people trust us with the I know with the secrets. So yeah, so that was um wine and cheese in a in a nutshell.
SPEAKER_00And another case of wine came home.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_02Yep, happens every time. The majority of this episode I wanted to to talk about was collaboration. All right. Because uh we had a you know, there was a lot of highlights. Of course, we we brewed our own beer with uh resurgence, yeah, uh, which was a fruited sour called Insert Coin Get Sour. It was uh sour ale, concork grape, logan berry, and then they conditioned it on Runz candies, like a big old four-pound sack that they just stuck in the tank. Yeah. And then uh dried pineapple and lemon peel.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I thought it was awesome, but we alas did not win.
SPEAKER_02No, it's the event was taken over by Donkey Kong and Banana. Here we thought it was gonna be more fruity and Pac-Man, and you know, it's just like the obvious thing, but everybody was doing banana.
SPEAKER_00And I don't drink any banana, so yeah. There was a lot of beers I did not taste, and a few that I tried, like the root beer and banana one I tried, because I was like, oh, you guys were like, oh, there's more root beer than banana. No, if you don't like banana, you taste the banana.
SPEAKER_02And that the one you were talking about was uh Diddy Kong The Reckoning from Eli Fish, which was the winner of the championship belt uh this year. So that was their uh banana root beer seltzer. So that's the first time a non-beer has won the competition. Uh second place was last year's champion Frequentum with the just Wampa fruit, tropical sour on Ube and Mango, which was really good. Uh so they came in second, and then third went to uh Mountain Roads Brewing, who is no longer open because they had already announced that they were closing. Uh so there uh did I put Mountain Roads down here? Yes, double jump juice, double dry hopped IPA. So they came in third place. Um, but yeah, they rounded out the top 10. Unfortunately, we didn't rank in the top ten, but that's um that's fine. I I think I think that the beer was even better than uh Turn the Sage.
SPEAKER_00I thought the beer was excellent. And I heard a lot of people tell me that our beer was great.
SPEAKER_02So we've gotten comp we got compliments on other podcasts about it.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I mean it had to be good. Yeah. Josh took some home and his friends all had it, and they were like, This is one of the guys said this is the best beer I've ever had in my life. Uh where were you at collaboration voting me number one?
SPEAKER_02Could have used your support.
SPEAKER_00Right.
SPEAKER_02Uh, some other ones that we enjoyed. So the furthest traveled was Bull Finch, who we uh who we visited because they're in Destiny USA Mall in Syracuse. Yes. So they came out with Sunset Orange Drive, Orange Sour with vanilla, cardamom, and green tea. Which was very good, different and really fun to work with. So Bull Finch, uh, they actually well they've actually placed in the top ten uh with theirs. So um we had a great conversation with them, and I think something's gonna happen down the road there with the conversation. They're in an old Gordon Beer location, so they're they really embraced it and um kind of nerdy like us, you know.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, for sure.
SPEAKER_02Very uh, you know, very D themed there. A lot of a lot of wizards and warlocks going on. So yeah, it's gonna be it's it'll be really fun to have a conversation with them. New York, um, New York beer project, Rainbow Road Galaxy Glimmer. That was the blonde with the pineapple, the Citra Galaxy hops, and then they finished that with the edible glitter. Yeah, which was fun. It was pretty. It was pretty, pretty beer. Yeah, let's see.
SPEAKER_00Uh Princess Beer.
SPEAKER_02Mortalis did the uh the DK barrel drop. That was one of the other banana uh themed ones.
SPEAKER_00I mean, I didn't try that one at all, but their like whole setup was so fun.
SPEAKER_02They're always so extra with with their setup every year. Every year, it's like it's like, you know, it's like, yeah, I bring a cake and a few party balloons, and you bring the damn San Diego Zoo.
SPEAKER_00I know, right? We were like, I thought we did a really good job with putting some fun things to kind of have us stand out, but no, no, across from us was Mortalis doing whole blow-up trees and you know, play a video game and oh yeah.
SPEAKER_02Yep, just little bowls of of uh of banana runs. Yeah. So I know I gotta go back to ours real quick because Christine, so I you know, I call her the low-key legend. So Christine is one of the brand ambassadors for resurgence brewing, and we've known Christine for a long time. I knew her when she worked at Community Beer Works. We met her when we did our uh Buffalo Brews live at Burncliffe Golf Course. And I mean, she was do she was doing everything with you know putting the the Runts candy in so that when you drank the beer, you got the runts, and then they were in and they got soft and people liked that touch. It was yeah, it was really fun with the samples. Uh so you know it was great to have her join and and pour for us. And then Nick, of course, he just did a fantastic job, like with between the education and oh yeah, the beer itself, just making sure that everything flowed yeah, you know, so smooth.
SPEAKER_00I had a great time brewing over there, it was really great. Yeah, I mean, we learned not only what we were doing, but so many extras that he was just willing to talk about, you know, because I'm so inquisitive. Like I want to know everything. And if you're willing to tell me, you know, I mean, nobody's given out secrets, but I'm like, well, what happens when this happens? What happens when that happens? Like, what happens? Like, I'm like a kid when we do this stuff. And he was just answering every single one of my questions.
SPEAKER_02He kept he's like, Oh, we're gonna put you to work.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, and I was like, Good.
SPEAKER_02Uh 42 North Carrot Quest.
SPEAKER_00I liked that one a lot.
SPEAKER_02Carrot cake sour beer with cinnamon, nutmeg, and vanilla.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I like that one.
SPEAKER_02I figured you were gonna like that one. I mean, I'm a carrot cake lover, so yeah. I think I mean Mortalis made a great carrot cake hydra last year.
SPEAKER_00Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Maybe that'll come back. I wouldn't mind getting a hold of that one again. Uh Noble Shepherd, who's uh uh two-time winner of the championship, they came out with cheat code barrel-aged uh Mezcal hot chocolate stout, so kind of like a kind of like a Mexican hot chocolate on barrel-aged. It wasn't too boozy. And toasted coconut and graham cracker. I thought it was a nice I thought it was a nice balance. Yeah, it was good. Um, I think one of the better barrel-aged ones there, to be honest.
SPEAKER_00Instead of kicking you in the face with that. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I don't like them when they're too boozy. Right. Because it just so it's like, okay, well, this is the dominant feature now. Right. Um, so it's not always a good thing. I mean, to each their own, we always say that for sure. It's interpretive. But for us, we're not into like, yeah, I feel like if I ever went to barrel jam at 42 north, I'd be giving them just be a kick in the teeth.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I wouldn't go.
SPEAKER_02No.
SPEAKER_00No, I'm only a couple of steps of those barrel ones, and then I'm over it.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. Uh Hamburg. So they used the one of the flying bison recipes, and they made what was called Black Flag, Assassin's Ale, uh based on Assassin's Creed. That was uh cask porter, uh, kegged with coconut uh and rum chips. Um so that one was nice, you know, subtle, uh, good, you know, good balance of flavor. Queen City power up potion. Now, Queen City uh meetery, I like personally, I love their blue potion. Give me blue potion all day. Uh so they they make a variety of different things, but I love. Blue potion. This one here, I this one's actually one that I would that I would drink fairly often too. So it's a a honey wine with wildflower honey and Loganberry. So it's nice that somebody else besides us brought Loganberry into the equation. Right?
SPEAKER_00Because isn't Loganberry like a very western New York thing?
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. You know, Crystal Beach. Yeah, people don't even know Loganberry, I feel like, when you walk away. Right. I had to bring actually Loganberry vodka, Hartman's Loganberry vodka, to camp for our friends that come in from Pennsylvania because they can't get it anywhere.
SPEAKER_02No.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. So they're like, hey, can you pick us up a bottle? We love that stuff. We want to be able to take it home.
SPEAKER_02Our next door neighbors were Shelubi Loofer. So Sheluby Loofer did their mana potion, which was a magic color changing, whatever it was. They had a wand and then it's a little bit more. Yeah, like sprinkled the glitter or whatever in it. It would make the beer like change color.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Um, I was curious of how if it was gonna work, like they said it was gonna work, like it was rumored to, but did really good. So it was like a blueberry cream ale, very different. That's something something you would probably never see again. Yeah, to be honest with you. Uh brewery our den, wompa fruit sour, that was the tropical fruit sour ale. Everything they touch, gold. Good.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_02They were uh they were in the top ten as well. Doesn't surprise me.
SPEAKER_00No.
SPEAKER_02No. Everything that they do. And then one of our favorites is was B Spit. So B Spit meadery. So if you go down the 400 right off the end of the 400, where it turns into Route 16, go down about a mile on the right, right in the strip mall there. And there's B Spit, and they came out with Galaxy Gumball with it was this uh it's this uh lychee marshmallow and bubblegum carbonated mead.
SPEAKER_00That was so fun.
SPEAKER_02Just bubblegum pink, like yeah. It was cute. Yeah, they were super, super fun, taste just like you know, like a almost like an herbal gumball.
SPEAKER_00I don't know. It made me feel like a kid, although I was drinking alcohol. Do you know what I mean? Like that kind of like those flavors that remind you of being kind of a kid having candy, like I don't know. It wasn't like sweet leg candy, it's hard to explain, but it kind of did. It kind of made me feel nostalgia. Yeah. Like being young.
SPEAKER_02I used to say growing up, you used to go down to the corner store.
SPEAKER_00Oh, yeah, and fill up the bag. Right.
SPEAKER_02What was your favorite candies to put in the bag?
SPEAKER_00Um, well, there was a lot of different things. If you were in a chocolate mood, the little chocolate footballs they had, they had those little like sour gummy things before sour gummies were a thing. So do you remember there used to be like those flat little like discs that tasted like fruit? Well, they had like sour ones, and those used to be like individually wrapped, and those would be in there. Um, they would do like those little strawberry ones that would have like the that kind of strawberry jelly in the middle when you get to the middle section. Yeah, those were there. So, anyways, all this stuff would cost like a penny. So you could get 10 items for like you'd have your dime or 25 items for a quarter, right? I mean, this is back in the day when obviously things were cheap, right? Right? Like you could go and buy like a gallon of milk, a loaf of bread. A stick of butter.
SPEAKER_02No, but like for real, you'd be like, Oh, just going back to Sesame Street, sorry.
SPEAKER_00But you would go in and buy. I remember, I remember. You would literally go in though and get like a gallon of milk, a stick of butter. My parents would always like let us get a little treat. They'd hand a five-dollar bill and get change. Do you know what I mean? No, it was one of the days.
unknownI know.
SPEAKER_00So not to, you know, talk about how old I am, but yeah. So it used to be my favorite thing. We'd ride our bikes up there, and we kind of lived out like out of kind of in the country. So, like you'd drive or drive, you'd ride your bike for miles to get to this little store. And we would get our penny candy, we'd fill it up, and it would be like in these, it wasn't even like a lunch bag, brown bag. It was like these little brown bags that they would have that they would give to you, and you'd put it all in there. And then we'd take it up, we'd get our stuff, and we would sit there with our bikes, we just all line up. And this was, you know, before there was don't loiter in front of the store. You know what I mean? Like, because it was the country. What are you gonna do? So we just sit there, and you knew most of the people coming in and out of the store anyway. And you'd eat your candy and you'd save some maybe for later, maybe not, maybe we'd eat it all, you know. And the wife who owned it, she would always have like this big, you know, those big glue coolers. She would always have that filled with like ice water because she was always scared that all of us kids were gonna dehydrate. Because it was hot Florida sun. Right. But we had a blast. That was fun. I don't know. That's fun. So for whatever reason, that particular beer, mead. Yeah. Yeah. It made me think of when I was a kid.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. Um, so I mean, besides uh, besides our own, the insert coin gets sour. What uh what were what do you feel our favorites were for the day? Um my non-VIP. Oh that dot dot dot. You can talk about your VIP in a second.
SPEAKER_00You will not let me talk about VIP.
SPEAKER_02Non-VIP.
SPEAKER_00I don't know. I feel like you covered like everything that we really like.
SPEAKER_02B Spip, definitely. Yeah. The uh the gun the uh galaxy gumball. Yeah, you like the carrot quest? I yeah, I liked that one a lot.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, yeah. I kind of feel like you covered, you know, some of the good ones. Um, besides ours, I think we should have been number one winner. But it was fine. At least top ten.
SPEAKER_02Well, I mean, it was it was good, it was really good. The banana took it over, I guess. I guess, you know, it's just you know, we're here, we're thinking we're trying we're trying to embrace the theme, but we embraced the wrong theme, apparently.
SPEAKER_00That's fine. So let's talk about VIP. The best thing that I drank was the Dubai chocolate, and who was that that came with that? That's Ill Will Brewing out of Kingstown, Ohio. I love you guys so much. We had like three, we had like three things, right? So they had the Dubai chocolate, they had something that was like of chocolate milk.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I didn't that was so good. I didn't try to bother looking at their psychic.
SPEAKER_00And then they did one that was like a Sunday where they took the cup and they put like some chocolate sauce in there and then poured another beer because I know we had three because each of us had one, but all I can think about is that Dubai chocolate. That was ridiculous. I mean, and they had the longest line waiting for their beers than anybody else in VIP, and everybody was happy to stand in line and wait. Like nobody was arguing about having to stand in line. We were they were all like, I'll get there. Yeah, because I'm gonna have it too. Right.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. Everything there is uh it's I feel like they're the mortalis of Ohio.
SPEAKER_00I really possibly, yeah, yeah, yeah. Because they come up with some very interesting, very delicious things. Um, I was pretty happy to see a representative there from Arcane that we had just been to in Florida had some beers in the VIP.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, they had a guest uh pour come in. Yeah. Um, he was you know, probably just a volunteer, but he was pouring arcane.
SPEAKER_00But it was cool that they had a representation there. That was awesome. You know, gets more people to go down to Florida to drink some beers.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. Yeah. Down to the down to the plazas, we found out they don't call them strip malls down there. Yeah. As we were told, you know, like, oh, we don't call them strip malls down there. We call Plaza. Yeah, plaza. Uh yeah, uh, one of those beers was the uh the the chocolate peanut butter cream um adversarial. Okay. That was one of the ones that they had there. Uh let's see here. I don't even see the Dubai chocolate. I I don't know if maybe they did this as a as like a special VIP thing.
SPEAKER_00They might have. It's not even on the side. Well, it would we had it. It was there, and it was awesome. Yeah. It was really good. Yeah. And I know you were pretty happy about the uh, who is it, the robot people? I like human robots. Human robot.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, they make a lot of like really like upscale clean stuff. Yeah, I'm sure that you can get them other places, but they're you know, you like a you like a brewery that's dependable, yeah. You know you're they're just never gonna disappoint. Yeah. A human robot is uh is that one. Um, I for always forget where human robot is from. But yeah, it will, I mean, every every single time they're at I feel like I'm gonna have to go take a trip down there because not Philadelphia for human robot.
SPEAKER_00Oh, okay. Not only did we find out that they're not that far of a drive for us to go to, but then you found a arcade pinball place that's close by too. Yep.
SPEAKER_02Touch base with uh John, who's a member of my pinball league team. Yeah, and he's been there. He's like it's worth every second there.
SPEAKER_00So now I feel like I gotta drive down and I gotta go play arcade games and pinball and then go drink some beers.
SPEAKER_02Yep. You think Pocketer is good, and then you hear this place has got 400 pinball games dating back to 1931. Right? That's so awesome.
SPEAKER_00So awesome.
SPEAKER_02So we just got a wooden ball rolling around.
SPEAKER_00I don't know, but I'm fixing to drive the three hours to go find out. I mean, seriously, and we uh so we did a little Instagram like, you know, scroll through to check them out. They're doing like these homemade milkshakes, whipped cream out of the silver container, which means that is homemade stuff. That's not like you know, whatever that ready whip topping stuff, like cool whip.
unknownCool whip.
SPEAKER_00Um, yeah. So I'm excited to go try both of these places.
SPEAKER_02Um yeah, fountain soda with uh with uh soda syrup. So exciting. Yeah, so it'll be a fun time. But yeah, I mean, so you know, uh wine, beer, I mean, just some of the things that we've been, you know, tapping into and enjoying. Uh this and it I mean, we said, I think we said a couple episodes ago that this uh this summer was gonna be uh it was gonna be, I don't know, off the hizzle, crack a lacking. What?
SPEAKER_00You're just going on with words now.
SPEAKER_02I I feel like these are things you used to say. Now you say words like heel and gimmicks.
SPEAKER_00No, I just said something when we were out hiking the other day. That was fun too.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I'm waiting for her to come out with like, oh, that's not Kfabe.
SPEAKER_00I don't even know what that means, so I will not.
SPEAKER_02Keeping it real. Yeah, keeping it wrestling, keeping it real.
SPEAKER_00That is not coming out of my mouth because I do not know what that means.
